ENID — The graveside service for Eugene “Gene” Carlton Thompson, 81, of Perry, will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, in Red Rock Cemetery. The Rev. Martin Foster will officiate. Arrangements are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born May 24, 1928, in Red Rock to James and Elva Musick Thompson and died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Perry.

He married Bonnie Jean Shultz April 15, 1948, in Marland. 

He was a member of First Christian Church, Paradise Cove at Lake Carl Blackwell and Marland Round Up Club. 

He retired from the state highway department, ODOT Division 4.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Jean, of Perry; three sons, Rick Thompson of Thomas, Carl Thompson of Meridian, Idaho, and Mark Thompson of Perry; one daughter, Sue Schmitz of Bartlesville; five sisters, Melva Edgar, Donna King, Lila Bay, Darlene Lumbers and Glenda Buchanan, all of Perry; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, OK 73077, to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, heart division, or First Christian Church.
