Randall Whitehorn,64, passed away on Sunday July 9, 2017 in Red Rock, OK. He was born in Enid, OK on April 8,1953 to Mark Whitehorn and Elsie Springer Whitehorn, graduated from Enid High School in 1971, earned a MIG Welder's certificate from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology where he attended, he attended Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute and Haskell Indian Nations University.

He worked in many capacities for the Otoe Missouria Tribe as a security guard, substance abuse counselor, Title VI Program Director, Otoe Language Program Director, Headstart teachers aide, and bus driver.

He is born for the Eagle Clan. His Indian name is "Xla-Pi," meaning "Good Eagle." He is a life long member of the First Born Church and member of the Otoe Native American Church.

He was an avid fan of Tiger Woods and Pistol Pete. His childhood nickname was "Handsome Ransom." He enjoyed collecting antique drum kettles and making Native arts and crafts. His sense of humor never failed to brighten any person's day.

A gentle, kind, and caring person; he genuinely expresed his care and concern for his people. He will.be deeply missed, he loved his family greatly. He is survived by his wife Roselyn Begay Whitehorn of the home in Red Rock, OK, children Tara Breuninger, Elsie Rose Whitehorn, Sophie Whitehorn, Curtis Johnson of Las Vegas, NM, and Ronnie Whitehorn of Destin, FL., grandchildren Winona Breuninger, Cora Breuninger, Glynnis Breuninger, Elias Breuninger, Haden Johnson, Harley Johnson, and Ranlyn Danelle Simpson, brother Markie Whitehorn of Redding, CA., nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Elsie, and two brother's Ronald and Johnny Whitehorn.

Casket bearers will be Jimmy Moon, Brandon Whitehorn, Victor Others, Jonathan Simpson, Chris Harragarra, and Danny Breuninger Jr. Traditional prayer services will begin Monday July 10 at 5 pm at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Center with Ted Grant presiding. A traditional feast will be held Wednesday July 12, followed by burial at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home. Published on  July 11, 2017

Man killed in hit-and-run

Posted: Jul 09, 2017 11:04 AM CDT Updated: Jul 09, 2017 11:15 AM CDT   OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a teenager and a 64-year-old man have been killed in separate crashes, including one hit-and-run fatality.

Both crashes happened early Sunday.

The patrol says in a preliminary report that Red Rock resident Randall Whitehorn was pushing a disabled car down the shoulder of U.S. 177 three miles south of Marland in Noble County. Troopers say Whitehorn was struck by a second vehicle with its passenger side mirror before it left the scene. Whitehorn was pronounced dead at the accident site.
