Enid, OK — Alan Lynn Jones was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Wynnewood, Okla., to Houston R. Jones and Doris A. Richard Jones. He passed from this life on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in Stillwater, Okla., having reached the age of 63 years, 6 months and 4 days.

He attended Garber Public Schools and graduated from Phillips University in 1968 and University of Oklahoma in 1975. He served in the United States Army from Sept. 3, 1968, until his honorable discharge on June 2, 1971.

He married Eva Munroe Dec. 20, 1971, in Norman, Okla. They lived in Tonkawa, Muskogee, Tahlequah and Eagle River, Alaska, before returning to Oklahoma in 2000. He was a retired social worker. While serving as a social worker, he worked for the Veteran’s Administration in Anchorage, Alaska, starting the homeless program for veterans progressing to the current Domiciliary Facility. On leaving Alaska, he worked for the Tulsa Clinic and the Muskogee VA Hospital. His specialty focus was working with veterans with PTSD, who served in wars from World War II to the Iraqi Freedom.

Surviving are his wife, Eva, of Stillwater; three sons, Joseph Jones and his wife Jodi of Pawnee, J. Clayton and his wife Karmyn of Eagle River, Alaska, and Fredrick H. Jones of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Kamden and Aiden Jones and Tara Jones; and two brothers, John Jones and his wife Cindy of Covington and Roger Jones and his wife Sharon of McAlester; plus a number of other relatives and many friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Doris Jones.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Poteet Funeral Chapel, Pawnee, Okla., with Rev. Jimmy Kenner officiating. Interment will be in Otoe-Missouria Cemetery, Red Rock, Okla., under the direction of Poteet Funeral Chapel, Pawnee, Okla.
