Date: May 23, 2011

ENID — A celebration of life service for Albert L. Avery, 76, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Stittsworth Memory Chapel. Full military rites will be conducted by the Silver Talon Honor Guard stationed at Vance AFB. Committal prayers and interment will be in McGuire Cemetery, Lucien, under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stittsworth's.

Albert was born Sept. 3, 1934, on the Sattler homestead near Lucien the son of Bill and Bertha Very and passed away Friday, May 20, 2011, at his residence.

His family later moved to Enid, where Albert attended high school.

He served in the National Guard and joined the United States Air Force, where he spent time in Vietnam.

After serving his country for 22 years, Albert retired and returned to Enid, where he owned and operated West Side Pawn Shop and also had a home repair business. Albert also was an avid OU fan.

He had two sons, Marlin and Russell from a previous marriage, and one stepdaughter, Annette Hill.

On April 1, 1990, Albert married Reeta Dixon in Medford, Okla. Their residence in Enid was remodeled by Albert.

Albert is survived by his wife, Reeta of the residence; sons, Marlin and Russell; stepdaughter, Annette Hill; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Billy Joe Avery and wife Diane; and sister, Karen and husband Teddie Crawford.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents.
