She graduated from the family college, Oklahoma State University then (A&M) in 1952 with a degree in Business and Public Administration. She moved to Oklahoma City and worked for a mortgage company in the loan division and processed her future husband’s construction loan applications.

Betty married Hugh Allen Waters on March 6, 1954 and they moved to Red Rock in 1956 to raise their three children on the family farm. In 1966 Hugh built the home she lived in until her death.

Betty went to work for the United States Postal Service in 1973 so she could supplement her husband’s farming operation. She retired in 1994 after serving the last few years as Secretary to the Post-Master in Ponca City. After retirement she devoted herself to her grandchildren
and to traveling.

Betty loved to travel and hit all 50 states, 21 foreign countries and 5 continents. She introduced her grandchildren to her love of travel and took them on a cruise to Alaska and accompanied them on International trips throughout their school years. For her 85 birthday Betty and her college friend Willene O’Neil took a cruise on the Rhine River. When she was 80, she traveled to Egypt. Betty never missed her Grandchildren’s various activities, unless she just couldn’t coordinate a trip with the activity. She didn’t miss more than a handful in 29 years.

Betty was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ Red Rock until it closed in 2005, then transferred her membership to First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Perry. Betty was active in many aspects of her church and was a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, active in Christian women’s Fellowship and a member of the S & D Sunday school class in Perry. She served on the Fundraising Committee and in Outreach for several years. She supervised worship activities in Red Rock and provided her opinion at many committee and board meetings throughout the years.

Her Granddaughter is Alea Hubbard who is married to Brad of Claremore and her Grandson is Aaron Sharp of Stillwater. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter Caitlin Hubbard and her brother John Bulling of Orlando.

The family would like to extend grateful praise to Judy Winters and Kandi Corzine for their assistance in caring for Mother.
