John Arthur Rhoades was born on September 21, 1952 to Alvin and Dorothy (Hetherington) Rhoades in Wichita, Kansas and passed away January 26, 2019 in Perry, Oklahoma.

John was raised in western Kansas and Morrison, Oklahoma. He graduated from Morrison school in 1970. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he spent time at Key West, Florida. He was discharged in 1972. John worked many years in the oil field. He later began to work as a machinist at Charles Machine Works, where he was planning to retire later this year.

John married Trina Nida in 1975. Two children were born to the family, Jenifer Marie and Kenneth John. He married Karla Yarborough on March 25, 1998. John and Karla loved to spend time with each other, with all their children, and especially their grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Karla, step-father Ralph Fehring, and brother-in-law Bill Thomas.

John is survived by his children, Jenifer Zimbelman and husband Day and children Abigail Chelf, Jacob Zimbelman, and John Zimbelman of Chandler, OK, Kenny Rhoades and wife Brittany and children Brianne Rhoades, Jon Rhoades, Karter Rhoades, Caedyn Ware, and Bailey Hair of Perry, OK, Jennifer Kime and Tanner, Taylor, and Joshua Kime of Perry, OK, two brothers, Sammie Rhoades and wife Josie and family of Oklahoma City, OK, and Robert Fehring and family of Tonkawa, OK, three sisters, Nellie Thomas and family of Morrison, OK, Betty French and husband Terry and family of Elk City, OK, Cindy Carr and husband Steve and family of Morrison, OK, special friends Bob and Linda Novotny, his bar buddies, his dart team, and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Services will be held January 31, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry, OK.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
