George was born on September 11, 1923 to George and Clara (Stalman) Heppler on the family farm Southeast of Perry. He attended school through the 8th grade and had a great love for school and learning. At the age of 18, George wanted to serve his country proudly in the United States Army. George served as a Glider Mechanic and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1946.

George met the love of his life, Doris Lee Sheets, and married her on December 26, 1947. George and Doris raised three children Marilyn, Gerald, and Ken. George was always very proud and supported his children in anything they did and wanted them to have a good education.

While retired, George built a home on the family farm in Perry. George was always passionate about gardening. He planted and grew more than 250 pecan trees at one time. He built a green house and spent many hours and was especially proud of his orchids.

George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara (Stalman) Heppler, one brother, Herold Heppler; one sister, Clara Gottschalk.
