20 February 2021

On Thursday, February 11, 2021, Virginia Lee (Passow) Hentges passed away. She was 86 years old. A lifelong resident of Perry, she was well-loved and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and sweet, gentle spirit.

She was born to Irvin and Edna (Hirschman) Passow on June 28, 1934. She attended White Rural School and Perry Public Schools. On October 6, 1951, she married Verl Eugene (Gene) Hentges. For 67 years, Gene and Virginia farmed wheat, alfalfa and raised cattle in Noble County.

She was active in Quilters for Christ and Lutheran Women's Missionary League Unit 5 at Christ Lutheran Church; Whipple Ladies Aid; Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; and FFA Mother's Club. Virginia was an avid crocheter and hand-made each grandchild a blanket given to them as wedding gifts.

Virginia's greatest love was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them at family events. Her tabouli salad and home-made barbecue sauce were legendary. Together with Gene, they always made sure their children and grandchildren knew how proud they were of each of them.

She is predeceased by her husband Gene and survived by Harvel (Phil) Johnson of Enid; Harvey (Sandy) Hentges of Perry; Harl (Ann) Hentges of Stillwater; Harlan (Jennie) Hentges of Edmond; and Harlene (Darby) Colen of Perry. Grandchildren Jerrod (Brandi) Johnson; Brock (Jenna) Johnson; Heath (Casey) Hentges; Courtney (Wes) Gutekunst; Gavin (Jenny) Hentges; Amber (Brance) Coker; Grace, Will and Lane Hentges; and Habbie and Thatcher Colen; nine great-grandchildren; and Wynona Passow, sister-in-law.

Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 2 p.m., at 1301 N. 7th St. in Perry. Visitation will be 9AM to 8PM Monday February 22, 2021, at Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Perry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Grace Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted in the care of Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Perry.

Condolences may be sent to the family via www.dightonmarle.com.
