Sara Ruth Yost died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla., where she had recently undergone open heart surgery. She had been ill for several months after falling at home in October, 2006. She was cremated at her request.

Born March 25, 1918, in Arkansas City, Kan., she attended the Arkansas City public schools, was very active in school and civic activities and was crowned Queen of the annual Arkalalah Celebration. After graduating from high school in 1936, she attended Oklahoma A&M; College in Stillwater, Okla., where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta social sorority prior to meeting the love of her life, H. Donovan Yost, of Billings, Okla. After Donovan’s graduation, they were married in Arkansas City on November 5, 1939, and moved to the farm southeast of Billings, Okla., where they were involved in farming, ranching and breeding Polled Hereford cattle for over 50 years until Donovan’s untimely death on April 12, 1992. They were active members of the Billings Christian Church, and she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She moved to Perry, Okla., after her husband’s death, where she became active in the local community serving in various civic capacities and as a member of the board of directors of the local hospital foundation for several years. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Perry at the time of her death and enjoyed playing bridge and attending OSU football and basketball games.

Surviving are her son, Harvey D. Yost II, and his wife Donna, of Perry; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia S. Yost, of Billings; and her former daughter-in-law, Sharon K. Yost, of Perry.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tamara Yost Iske and her husband, David, of Norman, Okla., Jody Yost Marko, and her husband, Brian, of Albuquerque, N.M., Harvey D. “Trey” Yost III, of Dallas, Texas, Ramee Yost Staerkel and her husband Chad, of Douglas, Okla., and Randi Ruth Yost, of Billings.
She is also survived by her niece, Phyllis Lester, of New York City, New York; her nephew, Bill Stanley of Hot Springs Valley, Ark., and her nephew, Kenneth Stanley Jr., of Lubbock, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earle Sidney Stanley and Bertha Ziegler Stanley; her husband, H. Donovan Yost; her son, M. Sidney Yost; two sisters, Lucille Wimer and Rosalie Lester, and three brothers, Kenneth Stanley, George Stanley and Earle Stanley Jr.

The Burial Office and Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today, March 16, 2007, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Perry, with Father William V. Powell officiating, followed by a private burial in Union Cemetery near Billings. A family visitation for all of her many friends in Petty, Billings, and elsewhere will be held at 6:30 p.m. this evening at the home of her son, Harvey, 602 Pheasant Ridge Drive, Perry, Okla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the J.D. McCarty Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities, P.O. Box 490, Norman, OK 73070.(Paid Obit 3-16-1)
