A graveside service for Harold Dean Matal, 80, of Billings, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Union Cemetery, Billings. The Rev. Floyd Westfall will officiate. Arrange-ments are by Dugger Funeral Home, Billings.

He was born Oct. 1, 1926, in LaCross, Kan., to Frank and Clara Elsie Muth Matal and died Saturday, June 2, 2007, in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.

He moved to Billings in 1938. He joined the Navy and served from 1944-1946. He later started a career in the Army that spanned over 22 years. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He married Anna Vermeer Sept. 4, 1959. He retired from the military in 1968 as a chief warrant officer. He and his family returned to Billings in July 1976. He was a member of Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Matal; three sons, Frank Pons Matal of Owasso, Timothy Owen Matal of Neunan, Ga., and Sean James Matal of Enid; four daughters, Clara Yvonne Matal of Lawton, Michelle Maria Camarillo of Billings, Monique Mabel Archuletta of Norman and Theresa Maria Hempfling of Enid; one brother, Merrill Matal of Billings; one sister, Ethel Enfield of Billings; and 23 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Wounded Warriors Fund.
