Pearl (Brazil) Chilcoat

Pearl (Brazil) Chilcoat
February 11, 1911 ~ April 3, 2017

Pearl B. Chilcoat, 106, of Muskogee, passed away April 3, 2017, at Dogwood Creek Assisted Living where she had resided for 25 years. She was born near Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Lon L. Brazil and Martha Ellen (Munn) Brazil on February 11, 1911, the second of four children. Pearl grew up and attended school in Tahlequah, Wainwright and Boynon, Oklahoma where she played girls' basketball and being both beautiful and vivacious, enjoyed an active social life.

In 1928, Pearl married Clifton C. Holland with whom she had one daughter, Darlene. In 1934, Pearl was wed a second time to George L. Chilcoat with whom she had a son, George Robert. George was a mechanical engineer and the couple made their home in many places: Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, W. Virginia, Florida, and Michigan, before retiring to Wagoner, Oklahoma where they lived out their golden years.

Pearl loved to sew and was very talented; she enjoyed making gifts for friends, family and very spoiled grandchildren. As an avid gardener, she enjoyed growing flowers, with pink roses being her favorite. She was also a lifelong sports fan who could always be found in front of her television rooting for either the OU Sooners or the Dallas Cowboys.

Pearl enjoyed an active and independent life which did not slow down when she moved to Dogwood Creek in 1992. In addition to her regular activities, she played (and won) bingo every week and served on Dogwood's residents' council, having the role of social reporter; she brightened the days of all who knew her with her optimism, radiant smile and easy humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of almost 58 years, George L. Chilcoat; her older brother Houston Brazil and her younger sisters Gladys Logue and Jewel (Judy) Jones.

Pearl is survived by her daughter Darlene Eaton, also of Dogwood Creek; her son Bob Chilcoat of Urbanna, VA; grandchildren Dr. Frank Eaton, Ross Eaton, Deana Eaton, Rob Chilcoat, Jeff Chilcoat and Emily Cook; great-grandchildren Kyle Eaton, Evan Eaton, Carter Eaton, Graham Eaton, Nathan Chilcoat, Malcolm Chilcoat, and Will Cook; and also many cousins and dear friends.

Friends may wish to remember Pearl by making memorial gifts to OU Medical Research Foundation in her name.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at Fosters' Ivory Chapel. Interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be made at www.foster-petering.com.
