Opal P. (Dyer) Johnson

September 25, 1916 ~ February 5, 2015

Opal P. (Dyer) Johnson, 98, of Muskogee, OK, passed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2015. She was born on September 25, 1916 in Webbers Falls to Robert Allen and Ada (Rogers) Dyer. She lived her entire life in the Warner, Webbers Falls area where she opened and operated several cafes. In 1949, she purchased the Martin Grocery Store south of Muskogee and owned it until 1957. Opal loved growing flowers and having a vegetable garden. She also enjoyed preparing meals and especially baking pies.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirlene Moore of Bixby; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Neva Johnson of Keefeton; two granddaughters, Tammy Cazenave of Bixby, Sherri Hiseley and husband, Jon, of Muskogee; grandson, Terry Moore and wife, Kim, of Pataskala, OH; four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Berdice Dyer of Webbers Falls; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special cousin, Dixie Lavon Mabrey. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Forrest Dyer; sister, Beatrice; and step-son, Jewell "Jack" Johnson.

Funeral services for Opal will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Millsap Funeral Service Chapel in Webbers Falls with Reverend Cardell Coppin officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Heaton, Tony Johnson, Terry Moore, Pete Crittenden, O'dell Armstrong, and Robert Ross. Final resting place will be in Fields Cemetery in Porum.
