Katheryn Elizabeth "Katie" (Gilmartin) & Klint Kale Impson

Katie & Klint Impson
Kati: November 26, 1981 ~ April 29, 2021
Klint: August 20, 1979 ~ April 29, 2021

Klint Kale Impson and Katheryn Katie Elizabeth (Gilmartin) Impson left this earth too soon on April 29th, 2021. Klint at the age of 41, Katie at the age of 39.

Katie was born November 26th, 1981, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to James J. Gilmartin Jr. and Mary Katheryn (Kalil) Gilmartin. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School, Alice Robertson Middle School, and Muskogee High School graduating in 2000. Katie received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Northeastern State University. She worked at the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 10 years in various roles, the most recently as a Contracting Officer. Katie had a passion for crafting and running. She loved to complete crafting projects with her children and Klint. She enjoyed running outside the most, as her and Klint shared a deep love for the outdoors. They frequently went off grid to their cabin in the Kiamichi Wilderness to enjoy nature with their kids. Katie was known for her infectious laugh, light-hearted jokes, and willingness to help others.

Klint was born August 20, 1979, to Bob and Cindy (Ellis) Impson in Paris, TX. Klint attended elementary school, high school and East Central University in Ada, OK. After college he began his career with the U.S Department of Interior as an appraiser of trust lands. He quickly earned a role as the Supervisor of Appraisal Services and most recently accepted an appointment as the Superintendent of the Bureau of Indian Affairs Choctaw Agency. He was an avid outdoorsman, a craftsman of all trades and was always one YouTube video away from perfecting a new skill. He loved working on both big and small projects from building a house for the barn cats to building his and Katies perfect dream home. He cut no corners when building. He was in his element in the outdoors. Klint, along with his brothers, built a cabin in his beloved Kiamichi Wilderness. It was his dream for his entire family to enjoy the cabin for generations to come. He was the go-to person for family and friends for any construction or mechanical related questions. While he likely did not know the answer, he enjoyed researching for hours to come up with the perfect solution. It was his way of giving, and he gave a lot.

Klint and Katie met in 2006 and quickly knew they were each others person. They married May 17th, 2008, and eventually made their home in Ft. Gibson, OK with their pride and joys, Karson and Kase. Together, they built their home on 60 acres and were continuously making improvements. Klint and Katie were in the process of constructing a dock on their new pond for the kids to enjoy. The two loved hosting friends and family for fun, and Klint always served a smoked meat. In the summer of 2020, the four traveled to Lake City, CO for their ultimate ATV dream trip. The family fell in love with the area and were slated to continue the tradition with a second trip in 2021. Katie and Klint complimented each other in every way; both easy going and supportive of one another as well as everything Karson and Kase did. They leave behind a lasting legacy through their son and daughter and will be greatly missed by all.

Katie was preceded in death by her grandparents Betty and Clifford Broyles, James Gilmartin Sr., and Joe and Stella Kalil.

She is survived by her two children Karson and Kase, her father James J. Fort Gibson family injured in I-40 crash

A Fort Gibson family was injured in a collision on Interstate 40 when a man driving eastbound in the westbound lanes collided with multiple vehicles, states an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Todd Cahill, 45, of Shawnee, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:25 a.m. Sunday in Seminole County, the report states. Klint Impson, 41, Katheryn Impson, 39, and 11-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy, all of Fort Gibson were flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Klint and Katheryn Impson and the 7-year-old were listed in critical condition. The 11-year-old girl was stable, but her condition was not listed in the report.

According to OHP, Cahill was driving a 2009 Jeep Liberty eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-40 when he struck a 2020 Ford Expedition driven by Jack Chapman, 82, of Calvin. Cahill continued eastbound and struck a 2021 Kia SUV driven by Klint Impson, causing the Kia to drive off the left side of the road. Cahill then collided with a 2016 Ram pickup, driven by Christopher Lantz, 33, from Oklahoma City, causing Cahill's vehicle to overturn, ejecting Cahill approximately 98 feet. The Ram pickup then collided with a 2004 BMW driven by Remzi Derti, 66, of Denison, Texas, before driving off the right side of the road.

The report states the Impsons were pinned for approximately 45 minutes and were freed by the Strother Fire Department. Neither Chapman nor his four passengers were injured, and neither Derti nor her passenger were injured. Neither Cahill, Chapman and Chapman's passengers were wearing a seat belt. Impson and all of his passengers were wearing seat belts. The report also states that it was unknown if Lantz, Derti, or Derti's passenger were wearing seat belts, the report states.
