Berta Sue (Nelson) Bulman

ENID, Okla. — Berta Sue Bulman, a resident of Mill Creek, was born Aug. 19, 1939, in Nash, Okla., to Charles and Lois (Hardiman) Nelson. She passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Midwest City, Okla., at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 4 days.

Berta grew up in Nash, graduating from Nash High School. She then obtained her bachelor’s degree from OSU and her master’s degree in education from ECU. Berta and John G. Bulman were married on March 30, 1963, in Nash, Okla. After her marriage, they lived in Mill Creek before moving to the Ada area.

Berta taught at Stratford for one year, before the family moved back to the Mill Creek area in 1976. She taught home economics at Sulphur High School from 1977, until her retirement in 1999.

She was a member of Crossway First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John G. Bulman on Nov. 6, 2011; her parents; a brother, Dean Nelson; and a son-in-law, Brad Coyle.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Coyle of Ada, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kerri Bulman of Midwest City, Okla.; sister, Connie Nokes of Enid, Okla.; five grandchldren, Kaitlyn Bulman, Kyle Bulman, Kamryn Bulman, Bree Coyle and J.B. “John Bradson” Coyle.

Pallbearers: Rick Thompson, Harris Penner, Bronson Warren, Shaun Nokes, Chuck Nelson and Joe Polasek. Honorary Bearers: Allen “Butch” Hill, Phil Key, Larry Hobbs and Terry Dobson.

Service was held Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Crossway First Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery. Arrangements were by DeArman’s Clagg Funeral Home, Sulphur, Okla.

The family requests memorials be made in her memory to Crossway First Baptist Church for the Falls Creek Youth Scholarship Fund.
