J.A. "Jake" Walker

Funeral services for J.A. "Jake" Walker, 83, were held Saturday, September 14, 2002 at the Northeast Church of Christ in Sentinel. Interment followed in the Sentinel Cemetery under the direction of McClure Funeral Home with James Cudd officiating.
Jake was born October 16, 1916. He departed this life September 11, 2002 at the Elkview General Hospital in Hobart.
He was the son of Arthur E. and Edna (Johnston) Walker.
Jack and Rachel McClary were united in marriage January 28, 1940 at Portales, New Mexico. They moved to Sentinel in 1944 from Portales.
Jake owned and operated Walker Supply Company. He was retired from the Postal Service. Jake had served his community as Mayor of Sentinel, a volunteer fireman, as tag agent and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ where he had served as deacon and church treasurer for many years. He was currently serving as an elder.
After the death of Rachel, February 4, 1998, Jake and Una Carter were married on September 17, 1999.
He is survived by his wife Una Carter Walker of the home; two daughters, Helen Pruitt and husband Walt of Ninety Six, South Carolina; Katherine Mowry and husband Dave of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one brother Melvin Walker of San Angelo, Texas; one sister Viola W. Morris of Truth of Consequences, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Kyle Pruitt, Dayne Pruitt, Jayne Haskell, Suzanne Doss, Gerald Harper and nine great grandchildren.
