Funeral services for Thomas Clarence Stanley were held Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Elk City with Rev. James Perkey officiating. Interment followed in the Page Cemetery near Burns Flat under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Thomas Clarence Stanley was born on July 2, 1903 on a homestead claim in Custer County to Cullen Montgomery Stanley and Penney Pop Stanley. He passed away on August 8, 2002 in Denton, TX at the age of 99 years, one month and six days. Tom moved to a farm in Washita County with his family in 1908. He was united in marriage to Nina Shadrick on December 22, 1922 and they farmed and worked in the Burns Flat community until 1952 when they moved to Elk City. They were members of the First Baptist Church. In 1988 they moved to Corpus Chrisi, TX to live with their son, J.D. and his wife, Corene.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Nina, son, J.D., infant daughters, Lucy Bell and Dortha Ann, grandson, Jerry Don, parents, Penney and Cullen Stanley, three brothers, Frank, Clyte and R.E. (Bill), two sisters, Gladys and Ida Bee.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Corene Stanley of Denton, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.
