Fannie Aletia Crump, daughter of George and Wilmina (Passmore) Gates, was born November 15, 1902 at Margville, Missouri and died June 3 at the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton at the age of 101 years, 6 months and 18 days.
At an early age she moved with her family to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she graduated from Weatherford High School and Southwestern State University in 1928.
When she was at the University, she played guard on the women's basketball team. Although it was a winning team, they were not allowed to travel as the teams do now.
When she was a junior in high school, she joined the Methodist Church where she was a active member throughout her life.
After finishing at the University, she was ready to devote her life to teaching. She taught 45 years at Yale, Arapaho, Burns Flat and Sentinel.
In 1928 she married Bill Crump from Sentinel and lived there until his death. She then entered the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and a nephew. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, June 7 at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Sentinel. Burial, under the direction of McClure Funeral Home, will follow in Sentinel Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Methodist Church.
