Daisy Mae Craig

Daisy Mae Craig, daughter of J.W. and Lillie Mae (Bratcher) Chappelear, was born April 15, 1917 at Seger, Oklahoma. She departed this life at the Cordell Memorial Hospital on Friday morning May 24, 2002 at the age of 85 years, one month, and nine days.
Daisy grew up in the Cloud Chief and Cowden communities. She graduated from the Cowden High School and then attended Southwestern College at Weatherford.
Daisy and Alfred Craig were united in marriage September 22, 1937 in Cordell, Oklahoma. To this union a daughter Patricia was born.
Daisy operated her ladies clothing store, The Patricia Shop, in downtown Cordell for over 49 years, retiring in 1999 due to declining health. She enjoyed selling fine clothing and visiting with friends who came by through the years.
Daisy also enjoyed knitting, painting artwork, and was an accomplished cook, preparing many special holiday meals for family and friends. Daisy had been a member of the Cordell Professional Womens Club, and a local Bridge Club.
Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, brothers Marion and Bill Chappelear, sisters Gladys Maupin and Pearl Kutch, and her husband of 44 years, Alfred Craig. He passed away on April 14, 1982.
Survivors include her daughter Patricia Craig of Cordell, a brother Glen Chappelear of Lawton, many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2002, at the Church of Christ in Cordell with H.L. Shirey officiating. Interment followed in the Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell under the direction of the McClure Funeral Home of Cordell. Honoring her as casketbearers were Ronnie McKee, Kyle Moore, Allen Giblet, Jackie Harper, Floyd Craig, and Keith Gerlach.
