February 19, 1948
ISAACS
E.L. ISAACS was born June 3, 1933 in Adair County, and passed away February 11, 1948 in a Prairie Grove, Arkansas, hospital, following an appendix operation.
Burial was Wednesday afternoon in Chalk Bluff cemetery, following funeral services in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with his great uncle Elder W.M. ISAACS, officiating.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam ISAACS, two brothers S.L. and Bernell, and two sisters, Delores Raye and Myra Sue all of the home; grandfather Rev. A.J. ISAACS, and maternal grandmother Mrs. Mary VICK of Stilwell, several uncles and aunts and other relatives. Pall bearers, Junior highschool classmates, were Lawrence SMALL, Billy Joe KERSEY, Joe Lynn CARSON, Tom KELLEY, Leroy ANDERSON and Wayne SHANNON.
Flower girls, also members of his class, included Willa Dean ALLISON, Gwendolyn LAUGHLIN, Nadine WALL, Peggy ADAIR, Jessie ROBB and Wanda Faye BARKER.
MORDECAI
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon 2 p.m., at the Roberts Funeral Home for Willie B. MORDECAI, better known as Bill MORDECAI.
He was born July 17, 1890, at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma (Indian Territory).
He Passed from this life February 8, 1948, at Sweet Home, Oregon.
He is survived by one sister, and two brothers, Mrs. Frank HARP of Santa Maria, California; John MORDECAI of Sweet Home, Oregon; Jess MORDECAI of Stilwell. Aside from the above there are many other relatives.
Rev. E.R. HALL of the Christian Church officiated.
Interment was in the Caney Cemetery.

February 26, 1948

ADAIR
Funeral services for Ezekiel E. ADAIR were held at the Piney school house Tuesday, February 24th.
Mr. ADAIR was born in the Indian Territory, February 22, 1877 and passed from this life February 23, 1948.
He was united in marriage with Miss Ida L. ALBERTY, October 16, 1904.
To this union six children were born of whom only two are now living, one son, Haskell ADAIR of Piney and one daughter, Mrs. E.B. MASTER of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mr. ADAIR was well known throughout the eastern part of the state, as he was from one of the oldest and most outstanding families in territoral days.
Adair County derived its name after the ADAIR family name. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E.R. HALL of the Christian church, Stilwell, under the direction of Roberts Funeral home.
SNODGRASS
Amanda Vernetta SNODGRASS was born February 26, 1877, Washington County, Arkansas, died February 15, 1948 at Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 17, at Stubblefield Funeral Chapel at Drumright and burial in Roselawn cemetery at Cushing.
Survivors include her husband J.R. SNODGRASS, Grove, three sons, Stanley SNODGRASS, Yakima, Washington, Troy SNODGRASS, Seminole, Buddy SNODGRASS, Palm Springs, California; two daughters, Mrs. H.D. SMITH, Grove, Mrs. Chester LEE, Stilwell. Nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The SNODGRASS family were pioneer citizens of Stilwell, they came here when Stilwell was a very small village, and had a great part in its development and growth.
HARMON
(Westville News)
Funeral service for Mrs. Loveta Marie HARMON, wife of John HARMON, who died at her home Thursday, February 19, after a long illness, was conducted from Roberts Funeral Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. Harvey HUMAN, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating.
Burial was in the city cemetery.
Mrs. HARMON was born April 29, 1901 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
On January 11, 1920 she was united in marriage to John H. HARMON and they moved to Westville several years ago.
To this union were born two children, John H. HARMON, Jr., and a daughter, Wyvonne, both of whom survive and who are living in Tulsa.
Other survivors include her mother, Mrs. Alice ROBERTSON of Tulsa; two sisters, Mrs. Calvin CRITTENDEN of Tulsa and Mrs. Bill BRINEY of Antiock, California; and two brothers, Adam ROBERTSON of Tulsa and Roland ROBERTSON of Golden, Colorado.
She had been a member of the Methodist church for many years. A quartet composed of Lorena PHILLIS, Winfred ALLISON, Geraldine SNYDER and Maxine ODLE, all highschool students, sang three requested songs, with Mrs. James SMITH at the piano.
KERNS
(Westville News)
Funeral service for James D. KERNS, 69 of Watts, who died in the Hillcrest hospital in Tulsa, Wednesday, February 18, twenty-eight hours after he had been injured in a two-automobile collision near Tulsa, Tuesday afternon, were conducted from the Watts Baptist church, Sunday afternoon with Rev. Don SHEFFIELD, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. James SMITH, pastor of the Westville Baptist church, and Rev. C.E. HARDY.
Burial was in the Westville city cemetery with the Roberts Funeral Home directing arrangements.
Mr. KERNS received head injuries from the accident, which sent four other persons to the hospital as a result of the crash.
They are Mrs. Susie KERNS, wife of the victim, who is still hospitalized; William F. TAYLOR, 55 of Oklahoma, state building and supply supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone company; Earl H. JOHNSON, 52, Tulsa, building and supply for Bell in Eastern Oklahoma; C.E. DUKE, 53 of St. Louis, general building and supply supervisor for Bell.
Mrs. KERNS arm and jaw were broken and she still remains in a serious condition, but has regained consciousness.
Mr. KERNS was born May 14, 1878 in Georgia. He was the son of Tandy KERNS and Jane HENDRICKS.
He was a member of the Baptist church having joined at the age of 16.
For the past 46 years he has been a resident of Oklahoma, and was widely known throughout this community.
Survivors other than his wife, Susie KERNS include one son Roy Eugene KERNS, Denver, Colorado; four daughters, Mrs. Oleta FARLEE, Littleton, Colorado, Mrs. Cletheal RONAN, Rock Island, Illinois, Mrs. Cora FRANKLIN, Burlington, Kansas, Mrs. Almadean SAUNDERS, Fresno, California; one brother, Lem KERNS of Westville; one sister, Mrs. Jimmy STOVER, Warrior, Alabama, and five grandchildren.

July 8, 1948
DOUBLEHEAD
Blackbird DOUBLEHEAD, 97 year old pioneer Cherokee Indian resident, died June 27, at the home of his son, Sam, in the Cherry Tree community, with whom he resided, following a short illness.
Services were held Tuesday, June 29, with Rev. Isaac PRITCHETT, assisted by Bro. Arthur ESSARY, officiating.
Burial was in the family cemetery at Cherry Tree, with Roberts Funeral directors in charge of arrangements.
Mr. DOUBLEHEAD was born December 25, 1850 and resided all his life in the same community.
Other than his son, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Minnie SANDERS, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Six children preceded him in death.
Here for the funeral were two grandsons Alex and Allen SIXKILLER of Dragerton, Utah.
