Laron Camp

Funeral services for Laron Camp will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with Pastor Mike Mings and Pastor Dean Young officiating with burial following in the Valliant Cemetery. Laron passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 in Shoals, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.

Laron Camp was born March 17, 1929 in Roberts, Louisiana, to Ira Jesse and Ella (Breland) Camp. He worked all over the United States for paper mills, before settling in SE Oklahoma for the last 25 years, spending time hunting and fishing. Laron married Bobbie Himes on April 23, 2005 in McCurtain County. He really enjoyed life, traveling the country for work and play. In recent years, he made sure to be ready for fish on Friday evenings at local restaurants, no matter how he felt that week. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty-four years and mother of his children, Hilda Seal, on March 1, 2001; two brothers, T.C., and Lloyd; three sisters, Marie, Dorothy: fondly known as "Sug," and twin sister, Lavon: fondly known as "Sis".

Laron is survived by wife: Bobbie Camp of the home; son, Nelson Camp and wife, Virginia of Valliant, OK; daughter, Madeline Camp of Valliant, OK; step-son, Ronnie Himes and wife, Velma of Gun Barrel City, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, OK.
