Tara (Cheek) Woods, age 43, of Edmond, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at the Integris Hospice House in Okla. City.

Tara Colleen Cheek was born May 26, 1975 in Norman, the older of 2 daughters born to Wyman and Judy Cheek. Tara was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell schools, graduating with the Class of 1993. She then attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor’s in Marketing. On July 19, 2003 in Washington, Tara married her best friend and life partner, Britt Woods. They made their home in Edmond where together they raised their daughter, Sierra. For the last 14 years, Tara has worked for Chesapeake Energy as an Operations Data Specialist. She loved her work and stayed busy with many of Chesapeake’s community outreach programs. Tara was an active member of the Desk and Derrick Club of Oklahoma City, where she held numerous offices throughout the years. She was detail oriented, a trait she inherited from her father, and she believed in the positive approach of a “hand up” is never a “hand out”. Tara loved life! She enjoyed scrapbooking, Red Dirt music and some good ole boot scootin line dancing. Her favorite color was red; she was an avid sports fan, especially the OU Sooners and the St. Louis Cards and she loved everything about horses. Her family was everything, and she cherished being a mommy to Sierra.   Tara touched many lives and lived every day for the happiness of others. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by:
Her father, Wyman Cheek
Grandparents, Jack and Lucy Moore and Curtis and Margie Cheek;
Uncles, Jack Moore Jr. and Skip Palmer
Aunt, Peggy Moore.

Tara is survived by:
