Gene Waggoner, age 86 of Washington, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

Doyle Gene Waggoner was born October 26, 1933, a twin and 1 of 4 children born to Jess and Lucille Waggoner. He was raised in Washington and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1952. Gene married his high school sweetheart, Margie Colleen Moody on Valentine's Day in 1953. Gene and Colleen had filed for their marriage license in Oklahoma County not knowing they had to marry in the county the license was issued. They spoke their vows on the Cleveland/Oklahoma county line in front of their car’s headlights and their love for each other lasted 67 years. They made their home primarily in Washington, together they raised 3 children, sons, Randy and Dennis, and daughter, Laura. Gene worked for the Norman Police Department. He worked in various roles throughout the years, including in the motorcycle division, and he retired as Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service. Retirement wasn’t easy for Gene, as he longed to be back in uniform, so he started working for the Cleveland County Sheriff Department. Gene loved his law enforcement family and serving his community. After his time with the Sheriff’s Department, Gene worked as a process server for several years. When he wasn’t working, Gene loved riding his motorcycle, and he even built and flew his own Ultra-Lights. He was a man of great faith; an ordained Minister and a true servant. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gene leaves a legacy to his family and friends, and in his own words, “I thank God for you every day. Thank you for loving me.” He will be dearly missed!
