Laura Thompson, age 95 of Fairview, OK, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022.

Laura Elizabeth Craig was born November 26, 1926 in Yukon, OK, the baby of 5 children born to Eddie McClain Craig and Alitha Elizabeth (Ross) Craig. She was raised in Washington, OK and attended school there, graduating with the Warrior Class of 1945. Laura then attended the University of Oklahoma.

By chance, she met a young serviceman, who had just returned from the war. His name was Lemuel Ray Thompson. He was leaving the local café when he noticed her, and the rest as they say is history. Laura married Ray on March 5, 1947 in Morgantown, KY. They first made their home in Duncan, and by 1968 settled in Fairview. Together they raised four children, sons Phillip and Steve and daughters, Carol and Lynn. When the kids were young, Laura stayed home, caring and providing for their every need. She also worked side by side with Ray in the family business, Thompson Pipeline Construction Inc, helping in the day-to-day operation. She was Ray’s sidekick, and whether it was working or fishing, they were always together. Laura lived for the simplicity of each day. She recently made the statement that when she got to Heaven, she wanted to work in God’s flower garden. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ray Thompson; her parents, Eddie and Alitha Craig and her siblings, Vecelia Saunders, Orville Craig, Iryl Adkins and Buel Craig.

Laura is survived by her children, Carol Bethany of Fairview, Phillip Thompson and wife Cheryl of Fairview, Lynn Booze and husband Chris of Cleo Springs and Steve Thompson and wife Kirsten of Fairview; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Washington Cemetery, Washington, OK.. www.wilsonlittle.com
