Funeral services for
Ruby Rae Rounsavell
Firsching, 93, of Ada,
were held at 11 A.M.
Saturday, March 9 at the
First Christian Church.
Reverend Kirk Jones
officiated. Burial
followed at Rosedale
Cemeteryunder direction
of Criswell Funeral
Home.
She was born November
14, 1919 in Chandler,
Oklahoma to V. K.
“Shorty” and Gaynelle
Popplewell Rounsavell
and died Tuesday,
February 26, 2013 at her
home.
Ruby attended Chandler
Grade School and
graduated from Chandler
High School. She was
also a graduate of
Hughes Beauty School in
Tulsa and the Spartan
School of Aeronautics in
Tulsa as an Instrument
Technician.
On March 31, 1945, she
married Frank H.
Firsching in New York
City and he preceded her
in death on November 22,
1997. They moved to Ada
in October, 1960 from
Honolulu, Hawaii. Mrs.
Firsching had been
employed by the Bendix
Aviation Corporation in
Philadelphia, PA and
later was a homemaker.
She was a member of the
First Christian Church
in Ada, a member of Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority, the
VFW Auxiliary, and the
Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
She was also a member of
the History Department
of the Tanti Study Club,
a 50-year member of the
Order of Eastern Star,
member and past
president of the Valley
View Regional Hospital
Auxiliary where she
volunteered over 21,000
hours for over 51 years.
Mrs. Firsching was an
avid Duplicate Bridge
Player and Junior Master
of American Contract
Bridge.
She is survived by
a sister, Edith
Costner of Chandler, OK,
her nephews, Bob
Rounsavell of Oolagah,
OK, Bill Rounsavell of
Colorado Springs, CO,
and Gary Costner of
Oklahoma City and
several great-nieces and
great-nephews.
Preceding her
in death were
her parents, her
husband, a brother, Leo
Rounsavell, and a niece,
Linda Costner Melton.
In lieu of
flowers, contributions
in memory of Ruby
Firsching were
made to the Valley View
Regional Hospital
Auxiliary, 430 N. Monte
Vista, Ada, OK; or the
First Christian Church,
101 E. 13th, Ada, OK
74820.
