Hilbert "Bert" Sprague

Hilbert "Bert" Sprague, 82, of Newcastle, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, in Tuttle.

Services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Sowers Memorial Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home in Tuttle. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle. Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle made the arrangements.

Sprague was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Douglass, Kan., to Orville and Lillie "Crumpton" Sprague. He married Nellie Siegfried February 18, 1957, in Albany, Ore. Sprague served in the U.S. Marines in World War II. He had worked as a furnace operator for a rare metals company in Albany, Ore. He came back to Oklahoma in 1976 and had lived in Newcastle since 1999.

His parents and two brothers Archie and Herman Sprague preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Nellie Sprague of the home in Newcastle; stepson, Aaron Mitchum of Tuttle; two stepdaughters, Karren Craw of Port Angeles, Wash. and Charlotte Dahl of Colville, Wash.; one sister, Tessie Taylor of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; and numerous nephews and nieces.
