WILSON-LITTLE FUNERAL HOME
PURCELL-NEWCASTLE, MCCLAIN CO, OK
(permission granted)

Kay West age 81 of Purcell went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Purcell, Oklahoma.

She was born June 5, 1934 in Purcell. Kay was the oldest child born to Cecil Allcorn and Mamie Mullins Allcorn, Kay grew up in and spent nearly her entire life in the Purcell community that she loved. She married Doyle West on January 25, 1958 and they made their home in Purcell. To this union, a daughter, Judy Lynn was born. Though she was “Doyle’s little girl”, she had a strong relationship with her mother. While in high school she worked at the Canadian Theater in Purcell. Upon graduating from Purcell High School as a member of the “Class of ‘52” she began her working career as an employee of the McClain County Court Clerk office. She later worked for the Purman Wilson Law Firm before accepting a position with the Farmers Home Administration. She worked several years for Farmers Home, a division of the USDA, as a county office assistant and retired from there after many years of service. She had grandsons at this point and wanted time to be “Grandma K” for those boys! Just being Grandma K to her three grandsons was some of her sweetest and most enjoyable times of her life. Whether it was watching them play baseball or showing livestock, “Grandma K” was always there. She may not have entirely understood the livestock show life that her grandsons were so involved in, yet she was still always there to support and even maybe “brag” just a little on her boys. She said she never spoiled those grandsons and she would be quick to let you know she was just taking care of her boys! She was very active in Purcell First Baptist Church, her bridge club, OSU Home Extension, and the Purcell Alumni for years. The Class of ’52 involvement was a labor of love she had and loved the reunions they have had over the years. She cherished her classmates and the other lifelong friends that made her life so rewarding. Kay will be missed and remembered as a loving friend, caring mother, but especially as “Grandma K” to her grandsons forever.
