(permission granted)

Betty Thompson, age 94 of Del City, passed away Wednesday February 26, 2020. Betty Jo Hawkins was born March 3, 1925 in the Bryant Community west of Purcell, the 5th of 7 children born to Wes and Oma Hawkins. She was raised in Bryant and attended school there. Betty’s life would change forever when she met a young service man from Wayne who was home on leave. By chance, at the Kennedy Drug Store, Betty met Tommy Thompson, and they quickly hit it off. On October 14, 1946 in Purcell, Betty and Tommy were united in marriage. They made their home in Del City where together they raised 4 children, son, David and daughters, Linda, Sue and Vera.   Betty worked tirelessly as a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. She was frugile, and always made sure that Tommy and the children were looked after. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothing and dresses for her many dolls. She was crafty and created the most beautiful floral arrangements, and she shared her talents with her family and friends. She was the best mother; a fun loving and precious grandmother. Betty had a strong faith and was a longtime member of the Free Will Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by:

          Her husband, Tommy Thompson;

          Her parents, Wes and Oma Hawkins;

          Her grandson, Justin Coonrod and

          Her siblings.

Betty is survived by:

          Her daughters, Linda Miller and husband Joe of Midwest City,

                             Sue Payne and husband Steve of Choctaw and

                             Vera Calvary and husband Joe of Edmond;

          Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and

          A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, on her birthday, March 3, 2020, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
