Gracie Ozell Mooney age 87 of Norman, formerly of Purcell, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Holiday Heights Nursing Home in Norman.

She was born January 15, 1928 in Smithville, Oklahoma. She was the 9th child of 10 children born to Leonard Lewis Lester and Lillie Mae (Samples) Lester. Gracie grew up in McClain County and attended school in Dibble, OK. As a young girl she learned how to work hard doing farm work with her other siblings. She continued that same work ethic throughout her life. On October 4, 1946 she married Claude Mooney. They made their home in the Purcell area and together they raised five children and three grandchildren. Gracie worked hard in the home as a wife, mother and grandmother. She also worked outside of the home at various places including, Sherri Classics, Roy Wilson Carpet Factory and while in her late 60’s and early 70’s she was the cook at the Purcell Senior Citizens Center. Gracie was a faithful Christian and member to New Mission Holiness Church in Purcell for many, many years. She was an avid bible reader and a woman of faith and prayer. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, painting and working with crafts. Her family remembers how she humbly cooked and served them Sunday dinners at her home for over 50 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Leonard and Lillie Lester; Husband, Claude Mooney in 2005; Seven brother and two sisters, Carl, Leonard, Donald, Marvin, Orland, Polk and Jessie Lester, Mae Herrell and Florence Rodgers; One son, Tommy Mooney, One daughter, LaDonna Milam, And one grandson, Quentin Mooney,

She is survived by: Three children, Claudia Boxley and husband Eugene of Purcell Jerry Mooney and wife Diane of Edmond, OK. David Mooney and wife Donna of Purcell, OK; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com
