Loyce Lamb, age 93 of Purcell, passed away Saturday May 21, 2016, at her home. Loyce Alma Prier was born October 15, 1922, in Sapulpa, OK, the 3rd of 4 children born to Edwin Redmond Prier and Margaret Eva (Allen) Prier.

In her younger years, Loyce’s family moved frequently following work in the oilfield. Loyce married William Escar Goodrich and to this union 2 sons, Richard and Robert were born. For a time, Loyce worked for Western Union using Morse code for the war effort. In 1944, William passed away, and some years later, she married Leonard Alford Lamb. Together they welcomed son, Leonard Jean and daughters, Vicki and Beth to their growing family. She worked hard as a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. At the age of 40, Loyce returned to school, eventually graduating with her Master’s in Education from East Central University in Ada. The family settled in Purcell in 1963 when Loyce began teaching for Purcell Public Schools. Loyce taught English for a time, but mainly taught Spanish in a career that spanned some 25 years. She also used her ability as a translator for both the Purcell Hospital and the Prison. Loyce loved teaching and was always learning. She liked learning new languages, she liked sewing and crocheting and she even taught herself to play the piano. She fondly recalled her times of travel, including trips to Asia and Europe, and her Mexico Missions Trips. Her greatest joy however was her family, and especially her grandchildren, great, and great great grandchildren, known to them as simply “Mimmom”. She was a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. She will be dearly missed!
