Janis Ruth Jones, age 78, of Purcell went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016, after an extended illness.

She was born on August 20, 1937, in Purcell, Oklahoma. Janis was the only daughter and the second of six children born to Curtis Huddleston and Lois Ethel (Goss) Huddleston. Janis grew up as a farm girl living west of Purcell. Her early years of schooling were at the Goins Country School. She later attended Purcell Schools were she graduated with the class of 1955. That same year she married the love of her life, William G. “Hap” Jones. They were married on December 16, 1955, in Purcell and together raised four children. Janis and Hap made their home west of Purcell their entire lives. She had a servant’s heart, dedicating herself to her family, her church, her friends and her community. Janis was a faithful Christian and a charter member of Union Hill Baptist Church west of Purcell where she served in numerous service and leadership roles. She taught Sunday School, mission programs for girls, sang in the choir, loved on generations of children in the nursery, and could always be counted on to help with baby showers, wedding showers and receptions, and church meals. Janis was also active in the Union Baptist Association serving as the WMU director for many years, teaching sewing classes through the Friendship International program, and with the Union Association Mission Builders. She was an active member of the Fairview Community Homemaker Extension Club, the Double F Quilting Club and a 4-H Club leader. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, fishing and family get-togethers. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Curtis and Lois Huddleston Two brothers, Danny Michael Huddleston and Roy Huddleston on May 6, 2016.

She is survived by: Husband, W. G. “Hap” Jones of Purcell, Four children, Daughters, Carla Davis and husband Shawn of Midwest City, Shelly Hogan and husband Don of Seattle, WA, Sons, Curtis Gregg Jones and wife Melena of Purcell, Chaplain LTC Mark Jones and wife Chaplain LTC Carron Jones of Alexandria, VA. Three brothers, Bob Huddleston and wife Marie of Purcell, Dale Huddleston and wife Malinda of Purcell, Keith Huddleston and wife Sandy of Purcell, 3 sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Huddleston of Purcell, Jean Branton of Antlers, Lavene Jones of Purcell; One uncle, James Ernest Goss of Tulsa 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family related by blood and by love.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M., Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Send online condolences @wilsonlittle.com
