O.R. Jackson, age 84 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the Lexington Nursing Home.

Otis Ray Jackson was born April 28, 1933 in Caddo, Oklahoma, the youngest of six children born to Cal Jackson and Mary Ella (Owens) Jackson. O.R. was raised in Caddo and attended school there. As a young man, O.R. learned the value of hard work. He began working in the oil field, and earned his way through the ranks and eventually became a consultant. On October 3, 1952 in Lovington, NM, O.R. married his best friend and life partner, a young lady from Michigan named Patricia Marie Hart. They eventually settled in the Purcell area, where together they raised 6 children; sons, Danny, Donald and Jimmy and daughters, Ellen, Tricia and Karen. O.R. was a proud man; a hard worker and a great provider for his family. Known for his great sense of humor and incredible storytelling, he imparted this legacy to his children and grandchildren. Known simply as “Grampy”, he cherished all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his eyes, they truly could do no wrong. He was proud of his Native American heritage and a member of the Choctaw Nation. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, grandfather, uncle and a true friend.

He was preceded in death by: His son, James “Jimmy” Jackson; Parents, Cal and Mary Ella Jackson; Brother, Tommy Jackson and 4 sisters, Emogene Smith, Lucille Brimage, Mozell Price and Katy Hunnicutt.

O.R. is survived by: His wife of more than 65 years, Pat Jackson; 2 sons, Danny Jackson and wife Ginger of Wayne and Don Jackson and wife Denise of Tulsa; 3 daughters, Ellen Armstrong and husband John of Bonham, TX, Tricia Staggs and husband Jeff of Purcell and Karen Seiler and husband Paul of Broken Arrow; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and two on the way; Several Nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
