Roy Edward Huddleston, age 75 of Georgetown, TX formerly of Purcell, OK went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown. Roy was born on October 2, 1940 in Purcell, OK. He was the 4th child of five children born to Curtis Huddleston and Lois Ethel (Goss) Huddleston. Roy grew up a farm boy living west of Purcell. His first six years of schooling was at the Goins Country School. He then attended Purcell Schools where he graduated with the class of 1958. After high school he got an associate’s degree at Oklahoma State University and later a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering from Texas Tech. On August 28, 1959 in Purcell, OK, Roy married the love of his life, Jo Ann Ruth. One year later he started his life long career with the Federal Aviation Administration, working as an Electronic Engineer. Together Roy and Jo Ann raised two sons, Danny and Brian and they lived in various cities mainly in Texas and Oklahoma. While living in Houston, Roy retired in 1994, after 34 years of dedicated service. After he retired he and Jo Ann moved back to Purcell where he enjoyed farming and raising cattle and hay. Throughout his life, Roy was a faithful Christian and a Baptist. While living in Purcell, he was a member and served as a Deacon at Union Hill Baptist Church. After 15 years on the farm, Roy and Jo Ann moved back to Texas and settled near Georgetown. There they joined the Crestview Baptist Church and he was a volunteer at the Baptist Encampment in Palacios, TX. Roy and Jo Ann also worked with the Union Baptist Mission Builders, helping to build churches in small and rural communities. Roy loved being outdoors and doing outdoor things like fishing and traveling. He also enjoyed working with his hands doing Christian woodworking, making Christian crosses, words and symbols out of wood. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was also a special brother, uncle and a dear friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Curtis and Lois Huddleston; Infant brother, Danny Michael Huddleston;

He is survived by: Wife, Jo Ann Huddleston of Georgetown, TX; Two sons, Danny Huddleston and wife Tammy of Purcell, Brian Huddleston and wife Lisa of Katy, TX; Three brothers, Bob Huddleston and wife Marie of Purcell, Dale Huddleston and wife Malinda of Purcell, Keith Huddleston and wife Sandy of Purcell; One sister, Janis Jones and husband Hap of Purcell; One uncle, James Ernest Goss of Tulsa; Six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one on the way. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Union Hill Baptist Church, west of Purcell. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
