Ellen Gertrude (Hammer) Carroll, 93, of Purcell, OK, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the Lexington Nursing Home. She was born July 29, 1922, in McClain County, OK. She was one of 12 children born to Leslie and Stella (Bebout) Hammer. She was raised, and attended school in the Fairview and Stealey community near Wayne. Ellen Married J.W. (Jiggs) Carroll July 19, 1941, in Wayne, OK. Together they raised 3 children, daughter, Marie and 2 sons, Jim and Curtis. Ellen was a faithful, charter member, of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated homemaker and an excellent cook. She made the best peanut brittle in McClain County, and made the family favorite cheese cake often. She loved to hand sew all her quilts, and made every child, and grandchild at least one. She was an active member of the Stealey HCE (Home Community Education), for most of her life, until her failing health kept her from doing so. She loved the ladies, the fellowship, and projects they accomplished over the years. She will always be remembered as being a dedicated Christian and grandma by her family.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Leslie and Stella Hammer; Her husband, James (Jiggs) Carroll, 7 brothers, 4 sisters, and one great grandchild.

Survivors include: Her daughter, Marie Andrews and husband, John, of Washington, OK Two sons, Jim Carroll and wife, Louise, of Wayne, OK and Curtis Carroll, of Denmark. 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 13, 2015 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, Purcell, OK. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, OK Arrangements are made by Wilson-Little Funeral Home, Purcell, OK. You may send online condolences to the family @wilsonlittle.com
