Anderson-Burris Funeral Home

The funeral for Robert “Rob” Eugene Abraham, age 53, will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at 3:00 PM in the Hillside Cemetery, Purcell. Visitation with family will be Monday evening 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Rob was born to Robert and Erma (Fansler) Abraham on January 1, 1959, in Wyandotte, Michigan, and died Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in Enid. Rob attended school in Wyandotte, graduating in 1977. He was voted “Class Fox”, being the best looking guy in 9th Grade, Rob was a star hockey player, appearing on the cover of local hockey magazines as a teenager. In 1977 while in high school playing for the KA Bears, he helped lead them to the #4 ranking in the State of Michigan, Metro Detroit League Title, losing only four games. After high school, he played College Hockey for a couple years, leading to a minor league Pro try-out. 

Rob decided to join the U.S. Air Force in early 1984. After basic training, he went for advanced training in Florida. He was a radar tech and was stationed in Alaska until 1988, and then in 1989, he was stationed at Vance AFB. On February 7, 1991, he married Shawna Renee Sawyer in Enid. After his discharge, he was a flight tech for Civil Service at Vance. As a hobby, Rob spent his time passionately serving the children of Enid, coaching for the Enid Soccer Club for several years.

Rob is survived by his wife Shawna; children Derek Abraham, Nicole (Zachary) Moneypenny, and Sarah Abraham, all of Enid; parents, Robert and Erma Abraham of Wyandotte, Michigan; mother-in-law Imogene Sawyer of Enid; two grandchildren, Emma and Evangeline; brother Mike (Sandy) Abraham; sister Karen Clarchick, all of Wyandotte; and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Sarah Abraham Education Fund.
