Eugene "Gene" Burns

Services for Eugene Burns were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Davis United Methodist Church with the Rev. D. Wayne Loftin officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.

Eugene
 was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Texhoma, Okla., Texas County, to Harlan and Lena Green Burns and passed away on June 5, 2006, in Sulphur, Okla., at the age of 84.  
 
He was one of eight children and attended school at Greenfield, Okla. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army as a member of the well known 10th Mountain Division. He married Ruby Wheeler on Dec. 21, 1946, at Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. They moved to Davis in 1951. He was a ranch foreman, then Gene owned Burns Oil Company, retiring from the oil field.        
 
He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter, Linda Readnour and husband, Gary, Pauls Valley; three sisters, his twin, Imogene Johnson, Pinehurst, N.C., Winefred Jones, Skiatook, and Norma Kruta, Yukon; a brother, Joe Burns , Bethany; four grandchildren, Chad Burns , Liberal, Kan., Kevin Eugene Readnour and wife, Lauren, and Keith Readnour and wife, Nikki, Pauls Valley, and Kyle Readnour and fiance, Melanie Reser, Oklahoma City; six great-grandchildren, Malia, Graham, Garrett and Kendall Readnour, all of Pauls Valley, and Connor and Cennedee Burns , Liberal, Kan.; many loved and loving nieces and nephews. 
 
He was preceded in death by a son, Randolph Eugene "Randy" Burns ; his parents; two brothers, Warren and Dan Burns ; and a sister, Alice Dunlap.          
 
Pallbearers were Kip Coburn, Chris Coburn, John Coburn, Paul Burns , Mark Burns and Mike Kruta.
