Funeral services for Sybil Montague, 85, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday,
September 6, 2005, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Gresham officiating.
Sybil Montague was born August 21, 1920, in Bradley, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert Aaron Nix
and Mary Alice (Collier) Nix. She died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at her home in Chickasha.
Sybil grew up and attended school in Bradley, Oklahoma.
She married R. T, Montague on August 30, 1935 in Lindsey, Oklahoma. This union brought them three
children: Charlene, Kenneth, and Dana. They were married for 37 years. Soon after they married,
they moved to El Paso, Texas, returning to Oklahoma two years later. They bought a dairy farm in
Grady County, which she and R. T. operated. She was not afraid of work, she helped do the
farming, milking, and whatever other chores had to be done, as well as be a full time mother to
her children.
In 1972 R. T. preceded her in death. In 1977 she moved to Chickasha, and it has been "home" to
her since.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and hard working
mom, grandma, sister and friend. She had a great sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh.
Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, three sisters: Little Addie, Anna Merle
Lance, and Ruby Lee Beverly; and nephew, Greg Lance.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law: Charlene and Don Worden, of Mesa, Arizona, and
Dana Alexander, of Chickasha; son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Linda Montague, of Blanchard,
Oklahoma; Six grandchildren: Dr. Donese Worden, Kathey Lee, Tammie Deskin, Chanda Linville,
Nicolas Alexander, and Tristan Alexander; Ten great grandchildren: OBier, Maegan, Checotah,
Santana, Montana, Courtney, Kassidy, Kelsey, Riley, and Derek; numerous nieces and nephews; and a
host of special friends.
