Sidney William “Sid” Hill, 94, of Alex, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Oklahoma City. The son of Abner D. Hill and Victoria (Fitzpatrick) Hill, he was born July 19, 1921 in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Sid married the love of his life, Mittie Louese Clark on August 6, 1943 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Sid was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and served during World War II. He received the American Area Campaign Medal, Phillipine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a Cargo Agent for Braniff Airlines and retired after more than 30 years of service. In his spare time, Sid enjoyed farming and ranching. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church, Teamsters Union, and American Legion. Sid’s passion was music and he loved playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly 61 years, Mittie Hill; one son, Jerry Hill; a grandson, Jason Mayo; a son-in-law, Gerry Mayo; and his brothers and sisters.

Sid is survived by his three daughters, Jackie Rowe and her husband, Jacques, of Edmond, Jeannie Mayo of Purcell, and Judy Blankenship and her husband, Rick, of Fort Worth, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Michael Rowe and his wife, Jennifer, of Harrah, Daniel Rowe and his wife, Lucinda, of Oklahoma City, Tamatha Simons and her husband, Eddie, of Edmond, David Mayo of Edmond, Sara Dewbre and her husband, Billy, of Dibble, Becky McElhaney of Purcell, Hannah Martinez and her husband, David, of Purcell, Thomas Mayo of Norman, Ruth Mayo of Purcell, Kyle Blankenship of Lubbock, Texas, and Garrett Blankenship of Minot, North Dakota; twenty-six great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends.

Graveside memorial service and burial with military honors will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Dibble Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
