Geraldine “Jerry” Berdina Carter age 84 of Lexington, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at her home. She was born August 4, 1930 in Benton, Kansas, east of Wichita. She was the 6th child of seven children born to Henry Alexander Weeks and Mary Edna (Shore) Weeks. Geraldine grew up near Dibble and attended Dibble schools. At the age of 16, she married the love of her life, Henry Foster Carter. They were married on December 13, 1946 in Purcell. Together Geraldine and Henry raised 10 children while Henry worked in drywall construction and as a Free Holiness Pastor. Because of his work, her family moved many times while the children were growing up. They lived in various towns throughout Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. They made their permanent home in Lexington 30 years ago. Geraldine worked hard to help provide for her family. Not only as a wife, mother and homemaker, she also worked outside of the home. She helped Henry in drywall and at one time she was a taxi driver in OKC. In her midlife she worked many years as a CNA, in local nursing homes and in her later years she was a private care giver for Oscar Catledge. Geraldine was a faithful Christian woman and a member of the Lexington Family Worship Center. Her greatest gift was her ability to teach and communicate by storytelling. For many years she taught Sunday school and sang gospel music with Henry. She was a fabulous cook and seamstress. She enjoyed working with crafts and she liked collecting dolls.
