Withrow, James Robert
born 22 Oct 1887 Texas
died 20 Aug 1917 Oklahoma
buried in Section Three, Block Three
"Death by Accident
Last Friday, Jim Withrow and Homer Barefoot were building fence on the Freeman Barefoot place near the Boston Oil Pool, some ten miles southwest of Hominy. They were hauling a load of posts when their mules became frightened and gave a sudden lurch throwing Mr. Withrow from the wagon. His spurs caught and his head hit on a pile of rock, causing injuries that resulted in his death. Barefoot hastened to the house and secured the help of Withrow's father who had come from Bartlesville to visit him, and then to the John Williamson place, four miles away, and summoned Dr. Herron. Withrow was brought to town and on Saturday was taken to a hospital at Oklahoma City, but his injuries could not be remedied and on Monday he died. The remains were taken to Blanchard on Wednesday and buried beside his mother. Mr. Withrow had worked here nearly a year and was a steady reliable, industrious young man, held in the highest esteem by those who knew him best."
