Nancy “Pat” Weatherford age 87 of Newcastle, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in OKC.

She was born January 31, 1930 in Maud, Oklahoma. Pat was the youngest child of thirteen children. Her parents were William Clarence Hodges and Mattie Maudie Ada (Cunningham) Hodges. Pat grew up in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School with the class of 1948. She later married the love of her life, Don Weatherford in 1949, and together they raised three daughters, Nancy Jean, Donna and Debra. Pat and Don first made their home in OKC before moving to California and living there five years. In 1960 they made their home in Newcastle where she remained living until her death. Pat loved children and spent her entire life caring for them at her home or by working for a daycare. She retired at the age of 65 from working for Tinker AFB Day Care. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She made clothes and wedding dresses for her children and grandchildren. She crocheted blankets and turtles for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even started a blanket for her soon to be great great granddaughter. While in the day care business she also made little turtles for all of her day care kids. She was a member of the Newcastle United Methodist Church where she worked in the Nursery for nearly 20 years. She was a fabulous cook, her grandchildren raved over her cream pies, canned pickles and blackberry jelly. She was an avid reader, she liked to go fishing with husband Don and traveling with her daughter, Donna. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by: Father, William Hodges, Mother, Mattie Hodges-Simmer, Husband, Don Weatherford in 1983, Daughter, Debra Chambers in 1996, 3 brothers, Bill Hodges, Jerry Simmer and Bud Simmer; 9 sisters, Grace Beck, Crystal Parsons, Eulene Clingan, Sylvia Phillips, Clara Bell, Beatrice Hodges,Jean Hodges, Okla Davis and Gloria Kreusler.

She is survived by; Two daughters, Nancy Jean Weatherford of Newcastle, Donna Hunt and husband Bryan of Tecumseh, OK. Sisters-in-law, Shirley Simmer of OKC, Joan Schmidt of Blanchard, Wanda Weatherford of Clayton, Son-in-law, Stanley Chambers of Norman; 8 grandchildren and their spouses; Casey and Pyper Chambers, Brandy and Wayne Santino, Marshall and Brandy Hunt, Kreta and Tracey Powell, Amber and Chad Brandon, Erin and Sev Swanson, Jake and Nicole Chambers, Telitha and Jason Proffit. 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way. Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Newcastle United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Blanchard Cemetery.

The family will have a visitation and receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday evening at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave, Newcastle, OK.
