Albert Leroy “Ab” Smith, 79, of Blanchard, died Friday, August 25, 2017, in Oklahoma City. The son of William Henry Smith and Mable Fern (Anthony) Smith, he was born March 2, 1938, in Purcell, Oklahoma.

Ab moved from California to Blanchard in 1951 to live with Chet and Margie Sewell. He worked at various places in Blanchard throughout his life, including Roy Scott’s grocery store, Richard’s Grocery Store, Shupert’s, and most recently at Lion’s Gas and Go. He and his brother also mowed yards all over Blanchard. Ab could often be seen riding his bicycle in town and was a friend to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In his spare time, Ab enjoyed fishing, yardwork, gardening, coloring adult coloring books, and playing guitar and singing. He was a member of Crossroad to Life Baptist Church in Blanchard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hazel Hurd; and a brother, Smokey Smith.

Ab is survived by his brother, Bill Smith of Blanchard; his special friends and caretakers, who were like sisters to him, Marjetta Dockery, Leslie McCraw, and Barbara Harris, and their families, all of Blanchard.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Crossroad to Life Baptist Church in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
