Charles Edward Rose, 84, of Newcastle, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his home.

The son of James Edward Rose and Mattie Lee (Hutchings) Rose, he was born November 30, 1931 in Fort Towson, Oklahoma.

Charles married the love of his life, Lillie Mae Martin, on November 26, 1954 in Hugo, Oklahoma. They moved to Oregon and together they had three wonderful children. Charles learned at a very early age to work hard and he continued this the rest of his life. He began as a farm hand, then went to work in a saw mill. Later he worked for Dolese sand and gravel company as a loader operator, and then went back to work farming. Charles and Lillie moved to Newcastle where they have lived since February 1969. He was Baptist in faith. Charles enjoyed joking with people and was a great prankster. After he retired, he worked for Baker’s Auto where he gave them a hard time with his “pearls of wisdom.”.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Edward Rose; his parents; three sisters, Bessie Crutchfield, Vivian Parrish, and Trudy Hanson; one brother, James Howard Rose; and two nephews, Danny and Mike Harriman.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Lillie Rose, of Newcastle; two daughters, Paula Kay Dunagan and her husband, Larry, of Tennessee and Kristy Ann Fancher and her husband, Terry, of Amber; four grandchildren, Carl Edward Mason and his wife, Michelle, of Bridge Creek, Shelby Mae Conrad and her husband, Travis, of Bridge Creek, Jordan Michal Schreiber of Stillwater, and Rebecca Lynn Lewis and her husband, Ian, of Texas; four great grandchildren, Dakota Edward Mason, Hunter Lee Mason, Madison Lewis, and Allison Lewis and one on the way, Wade Anthony Conrad; one sister, Dorothy Ellen Lynn, of Texas; and two brothers, Billy Don Rose, of Sawyer and Roy Dean Rose and his wife, Pat, of Texas; and many other loved ones and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
