JOHN CAROL OR CAROL JOHNSON WAS BORN IN MISSISSIPPI, MAY 8 1856 AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE FEBRUARY 15, 1935. HE MOVED TO ARKANSAS WHEN 19 YEARS OF AGE AND MARRIED MISS KATE THOMPSON. THEY LIVED TOGETHER 49 YEARS AND REARED 9 CHILDREN. MRS. JOHNSON PRECEDED HER HUSBAND IN DEATH THREE YEARS AGO. MR. JOHNSON IS SURVIVED BY SIX SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS, 37 GRAND CHILDREN AND 14 GREAT-GRAND CHILDREN. HE WAS CONVERTED AND JOINED THE BAPTIST CHURCH WHEN A YOUNG MAN, LIVING A TRUE CHRISTIAN LIFE.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH. HE HAS ALWAYS LOVED HIS CHURCH, SPOKE OF IT FREQUENTLY DURING HIS ILLNESS AND ASKED THAT THE CHURCH BE GIVEN HIS BIBLE. HE WAS ILL ONLY 15 DAYS AND BORE HIS SUFFERING WELL WITH THAT PHILOSOPHY, "THE LORD'S WILL BE DONE".
THE FOLLOWING IS A RESOLUTION PASSED BY MEMBER OF HIS CHURCH.
"WHEREAS WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH, DEEPLY MOURN THE PASSING OF ONE OF OUR MEMBERS, BROTHER B.C. JOHNSON, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: "THAT A WORTHY MEMBER AND A DEAR FRIEND HAS PASSED FROM AMONG US,LEAVING A SAD VACANCY IN OUR CHURCH."
THAT WE EXPRESS OUR DEEP SYMPATHY FOR THE RELATIVES HE LEAVES AND THAT A COPY OF THE PRECEDING OBITUARY, TOGETHER WITH THIS RESOLUTION, BE ENTERED UPON THE MINUTES OF OUR CHURCH AS A PERPETUAL MEMORIAL TO OUR DEPARTED BROTHER.

SAYING UNTO ME, WRITE, BLESSED ARE
THE DEAD WHICH DIE IN THE LORD FROM
HENCEFORTH: YEA, SETH THE SPIRIT,
THAT THEY MAY REST FROM THEIR LABOURS;
AND THEIR WORKS DO FOLLOW THEM.
