Arthur Junior “A.J.” Dornan, 75, resident of Norman and former resident of Moore, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Oklahoma City surrounded by family. He was born October 1, 1947, in Checotah, Oklahoma to AJ Dornan and Uldine Mae (Nichols) Dornan.

A.J. married Carolyn Sue Wilson on November 25, 1967, in Del City, Oklahoma. They celebrated nearly 51 years of marriage before Carolyn passed away in 2018.

He joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19 serving for over 7 years through the Vietnam War. He was truly a proud veteran.

He then worked for many years at Frito Lay, but also worked as a carpenter remodeling homes and later building houses. He always smelled of sawdust and sometimes lacquer. He used to say that he was made partly of sawdust. He was incredibly gifted in woodworking and could build just about anything.

His Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He spent a great deal of time talking about the Lord and even served as a Sunday school teacher for some time.

In his spare time, A.J., or Junior as family called him, enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and anything OU related. He had a passion for genealogy and later published a book about the Dornan family tree. He had a love for sweets and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy one. He was not only a soldier from the Vietnam War, but a soldier that battled cancer two different times since 2006.

His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He continued to tell everyone that “family is everything”.

He was preceded by death by his parents, and wife Carolyn.

A.J. is survived by his two daughters, Regina Vance and Archie Moore of Tulsa; and Anissa Stuckey and husband, Brad, of Tuttle; four granddaughters, Katy Dornan and Caleb Kirkland of Tulsa, Jackie Kirkland and husband, Casey, of Norman, Allison Strangfeld and husband, Shelby, of Oklahoma City, and Julie Stuckey and fiancé, Holden Dlugonski of Tuttle; six great-grandchildren, Skyler, Aidan, Gavin, Elana, Erabella, and Riley; one sister, Doris Wickware of Tuttle; two brothers, Jim Dornan of Midwest City, and Johnny Dornan of Carney; and many loved ones and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate A.J.’s life will be held at True Oak Fellowship, at 20 Worley Creek Dr, Tuttle, Oklahoma on June 23, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard, Oklahoma.
