Russell Larry Brooks, Sr., 72, of Alex, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, in Norman. The son of William Pearl Brooks and Lena Bell (Russell) Brooks, he was born November 21, 1943, in Wynnewood.

Russell worked for many years as an oil rig mechanic and was Baptist in faith. He married Rosemarie (Bryan) Kroft on August 31, 2001 in Alex, Oklahoma. In his spare time, Russell enjoyed gardening, fishing, and driving down backroads. He loved cooking outdoors and everyone enjoyed his homemade ice cream. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Russell Larry “Buddy” Brooks, Jr., and Larry Brett Warren; a sister, Shirley Robinson; and a brother, Dwayne Brooks.

Russell is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Brooks of Alex; two daughters, Kim Brooks and husband, Ramy, of Blanchard, and Dawnmarie Kroft of Edmond; three sons, Donalyn Kroft and Jesse Cook, both of Missouri, and Tony Dale Bowen of Dibble; thirteen grandchildren, Skyler, Landon, Adrianna, Hixsen, Rowdy, Brandon, Brehauna, Brysen, Liam, Jeffrey, J.J., Dillon, and Amanda; two sisters, Ramona Self of Texas, and Pat Martin of Okahoma City; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Memorial donations to assist with funeral expenses can be made to the Russell Brooks, Sr. Memorial Fund, under the name of Rosemarie Brooks at any First National Bank and Trust of Chickasha branch.
