Norma Newton Brooks was taken by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 31, 2017. She entered this world on October 30, 1936 at Granite, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ralph David Newton and Bessie Marvel Elkins Newton.

She was predeceased by her parents and older brother. R.D. Newton.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Rex D. Brooks; one son, Jonathan Brooks; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hicks and her husband, Terry Hicks, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Andy Newton, of Austin, Texas; one sister, Ann Greeson, of Clearwater, Florida; many nephews and nieces; and many other loved ones and friends.

Norma graduated from Granite, Oklahoma High School in the 1954 class. She received a B.S. Degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Oklahoma on May 31, 1970 and a Masters Degree in Home Economics Education on May 14, 1972 from Central State University. Whinery, while her husband was in law school from 1964 to 1967. When her husband opened his law practice in Oklahoma City in May 1974, she worked for him as a legal assistant the rest of her career. She loved working in his law office and made it her career the rest of her working life. She was loved by his clients because she was a good listener and delivered all of the good news about their cases to them, but left it up to her husband to deliver any bad news. Many clients related that she had the most pleasant telephone voice they had ever heard. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Sunset Baptist Church in Edmond and was a member there until she moved to Oklahoma City in 1978. Thereafter she was a member of First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City for several years and a longtime member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Baptist Temple Church in Oklahoma City.
