She was one of eight children of Benjamin Huey Patterson and Ruby Virginia (Williams) Patterson. She was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on August 6, 1932. She attended Stilwell High School and married the love of her life, Billy James Bateman, on August 26, 1950. Their union was blessed with three children, Pam, Karen and Jimmy.
Carlene had several employers, last of which was Fred Jones Manufacturing from which she retired at age 62. Throughout her life, she shared her smile and laughter with those around her. She was a joy to be around. She had many family members who were very musically-inclined and she enjoyed music very much. She also enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite places to go were Branson, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee. Her greatest joy was her family and she was always there for them. She also enjoyed fishing during the many family trips to the lake.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Ruby Patterson, her sisters, Alma Jean Hill, Vivian “Reccie” Kester, and brother, Raymond Huey Patterson.
She leaves behind so many who adored her, especially her husband, Bill “Buck” Bateman, three children and their families: Pamela and husband Curtis Yerby, Karen Voegle, and James Bateman; grandchildren: Christopher Murr, Joe Klingler, Elizabeth Voegle, Amber Turner and Linsey Moates; ten great grandchildren: Phoenix, Kenyan, Cadence, and Riley Turner, Dakota Klingler, Landon and Grayson Murr, and Alicia, Claude and Caleb Moates. She is also survived by sisters: Bonnie Bates, Virginia “Ginger” Nail and Doris Pewewardy; and brother, Jerry Max Patterson.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.
Interment will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
