Funeral services for Leon Wheeler were held at 10:00am Monday, November 27, 1989 at the First Baptist Church of Bethany.

Graveside services and burial was at 3:30 p.m. in Woodbury Forest Cemetery under direction of Bill Merritt Funeral Home.  

Leon Harvey Wheeler was born in Madill, OK on Jan. 3, 1927 and passed away Nov. 24, 1989 at the age of 62.  

He worked for PPG Industries for the past 39 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bethany,  a member of the Okla. National Guard 45th Infantry and a veteran of WWII. 

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Hazel; 3 sons, Eddie and his wife Peggy, Donnie and Bobbie; 4 grandchildren, the loves of his life, Heather, Dusti n, Erin and Eddie, Jr.; also, his mother, Amy of Amarillo, TX; 4 brothers, Buford, Lesley and Doyle of Amarillo, TX and Orbie of Enid, OK; 4 sisters, Mabel of Shamrock, TX, Flora of Amarillo, Ethel of Madill and Ruby of Okla. City; 2 sisters-in-law, Lil Van Cise of Burk, VA and Diana Cumbie of Garland, TX, and an abundance of nieces, nephews and many friends. 

Preceding him in death was his father, Walter in 1949.
