Effie Ava (Butler) Watson

Services for Effie Ava Butler Watson, 100, were at 10 a.m. Monday in Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, with Danny Stewart officiating.

Born June 16, 1891, (Tombstone reads Jun 26, 1892) in Lebanon, Indian Territory, Mrs. Watson died September 14, 1991, at her residence. Reared in Marietta and Lebanon, she moved to Madill as a young woman. Mrs. Watson graduated from Marietta High School in 1909. She married Charles Maxwell Jones in 1915 in Lebanon. He preceded her in death in 1953, and she then married Dr. Stanley Bland Watson in 1957. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1974.

Mrs. Watson taught school for several years and was active in the insurance and real estate business for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Max Jones of Long Beach, California; a daughter, Oteka Delores Huskey of Madill; a sister, Lucille Hicks of Chickasha; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Woodberry-Forest Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Dan Little, Joe Orr, John H. Jones, Randy McAdoo, Lloyd Henson, and Carol Stafford. Honorary bearers included Ernest Earl Ayres, Arbra Sparlin, Reuel Little, Dr. J.J. Herrin, and Jim Ewing.
