Dorothy Alene Lilley, 92, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away June 3, 2012 surrounded by family at her home in Norman.

She was born on September 9, 1919 to the late Thomas Nicholson and Essie Brown Nicolson in Silo, Oklahoma. Alene was raised around Silo, Brown, and Cobb, Oklahoma. She graduated from Cobb High School in 1937 and met her first husband J.M. Carey. They married July 1941 in Durant, Oklahoma. In 1953 they moved to Davis, Oklahoma and in 1960 they moved to Velma, Oklahoma where J.M. was Superintendent of Velma-Alma Schools for 20 years. After retiring in 1980, they moved to Lake Texoma in the Cardianl Cove area. After the death of J.M. in 1982, Alene married Leonard Lilley on March 9, 1984 in Fort Worth, Texas. They lived at the lake house until 1994 when they moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1997, they moved to Norman where she lived the rest of her life. Alene attended the First Baptist Church in Noble. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting. Alene loved spending time with her children, and grandchildren.


She is survived by her husband Leonard Lilley, Norman, Oklahoma. Children: Ronald Carey, Lead Hill, Arkansas, Larry Carey, Norman, Oklahoma, Jay Carey, Hobbs, New Mexico. Step Children: Ron Lilley, Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Paul Lilley, Huntington Beach, California, eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Sister: Jo Ann Sevcik, Mesquite, Texas. Brother: J. W. Nicholson, Redondo Beach, California.

Alene was preceded in death by her first husband; daughter; Linda Carrol and sister; Christine Robinson.
 
Casket Bearers: Grandsons-Steven Carey, Brian Carey, Jonathan Carey, Chris Russell, Johnthan Lilley, Chris Lewis, Casey Key and David Schmidt.

Memorials may be made to your local chapter food bank or Meals on Wheels; because Alene always wanted to make sure everyone had plenty to eat.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 am, June 6, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Noble, Oklahoma. Dr. Cleve Haley will officiate the service. Music arranged by Deyrl Kastner. Interment will be at 3:00 pm at the Woodberry Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home , Madill, Oklahoma.
